Las Olas Association Elects New Board &
Expands Boundaries
The Las Olas Association recently held their annual meeting and elected
a new slate of officers, with many of the 2003 officers returning.
In addition to the elections, President Chris Gaus announced that the
Las Olas Association has expanded their boundaries, running from Andrews
Avenue on the west to S.E. 16th Avenue on the east.
"For the last few years, there has been an interest in changing
the By-Laws to include our neighbors to the east and the west of our
traditional boundaries, which were from U.S. 1 to the Himmarshee Canal,"
Chris told members of the Association. "It’s
obvious that the renaissance of Las Olas has led to dynamic growth in
new buildings and many new restaurants and retailers. We are keeping up
with the times."
Chris returns to the board as the
president, Andrew Hillier as
vice-president,
Sharon Schwartz serving as secretary and Mark
Whitney as treasurer. Other
board members include Katie Adler,
Colleen Sotire, Cynthia Kounaris, Howard Alan, Ben Liss, Patrick
Manzella and Lucy Sterling.
For more than 30 years, the Las Olas Association has been the driving
force responsible for organizing the various special events that take
place on the boulevard. Two popular events
will be returning: The Las Olas Wine & Food Festival slated for
Thursday, March 18th and Clueless on Las Olas on Thursday, April 22nd.
Chris also noted that Tangled Spider has been transforming the Las Olas
web site and these changes should help promote the various businesses on
the Boulevard. "Tangled Spider Design Group
has also designed a new site we invite you to visit at
www.lasolasassociation.com."
